The Honda Civic Tour 2010 – Paramore, Tegan & Sara, New Found Glory

For 10 summers (minus 2009 when the tour was cancelled) the Honda Civic Tour has rolled across the country as an alarm clock of sorts signaling the end of summer. Past headliners include heavy hitters Blink 182, Maroon 5, and The Black Eyed Peas. But this year, the tour revolved around Josh and Zac Farro, Taylor York, Jeremy Davis, and (of course) Hayley Williams. They are Paramore.
For most of the day, the typical South Florida rain threatened to crash the party at Miami’s Bayfront Park Amphitheater. But the weather gods must have wanted to rock out just as much as the near-capacity crowd did because they eventually disappeared; revealing the spectacular Miami skyline as the backdrop. By the time the Franklin, Tenn., natives took the stage, the sweat soaked crowd couldn’t have been happier to see Williams and her guys. And judging by the looks on their faces, the quintet was just as happy to be in the company of the “good looking and a little dysfunctional” Miami family. Their set was a healthy mix of both old and new tunes. And each time one of their smash hits (“That’s What You Get”, “Decode”, “Crushcrushcrush” and finale “Misery Business”) made its way from the stage to the ears of the screaming crowd, the line of parents waiting outside to collect their children felt the earth move beneath them as a result of the all out hysteria that was happening just past the gates.
It had been over a year since Paramore had taken any South Florida stage, and our area seemed to have been forgotten while they were touring Brand New Eyes (the closest they came was Orlando). But they were in fine form Saturday night. Front woman Williams was the uber-hyper firecracker that we had all wanted her to be and the rest of the band held their own and proved that they could be just as entertaining. Kadawatha, New Found Glory (who headlined the HCT in 2003), and Tegan and Sara each took the stage before Paramore. Hometown boys New Found Glory pumped the crowd up with a set that included their cover of the Sixpence None The Richer hit “Kiss Me”, and “My Friends Over You”.
Canadian twins Tegan and Sara slowed things down a bit between NFG and Paramore. Although they had paid our area a visit earlier this year, they had never been to Miami. In typical Quin fashion, they humorously dedicated “Walking With A Ghost” to “all the beautiful people of Miami in thongs with wrinkly bums”.
Even though there is nearly one month left until summer is officially over, the arrival and departure of the Honda Civic Tour is the unofficial end. Kadawatha, Tegan and Sara, New Found Glory, and headliners Paramore shook fans to their very core Saturday night, and loved every minute of it. To sum the night up, Hayley Williams said it best: “You’re gonna look back on this and remember it as being the best night of your life in the summer of 2010”. For everyone in the crowd, I’m pretty sure it was.

Nice post along with a great blog layout, good job. I found this post had exactly the knowledge I was looking for and I will certainly be returning! Thanks for an interesting read.
